Diego Carrasco
Biography
Diego Carrasco is an institution in flamenco. His first artistic steps are given with the name of Tate de Jerez, accompanying the guitar illustrious names in flamenco, singers such as ‘La Piriñaca’, Tio Gregorio ‘El Borrico’, Chocolate, Sernita de Jerez, Lola Flores… and dancers like Alejandro Vega and Antonio Gades.
Later rock crossed his path and incorporated it into his projects in the form of rebellious and novel chords. He then collaborates with Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Camarón de la Isla, Enrique Morente, Mario Maya, El Lebrijano, Miguel Ríos, Guadalquivir and Pata Negra, among others.

Without abandoning the guitar and with the throat as the main instrument, in 1984 Diego Carrasco publishes his first album, a mini LP of five songs entitled “Cantes y Sueños” where he develops his personal style halfway between flamenco and rock, and marks a new way of understanding the flamenco beat. Seven albums have released so far, a career of enormous talent with such emblematic songs as “Alahea”, “Pa mi Manuela”, “Fernanda”, “Canción del mariquita”, “Peña del bollo”, “Poeta de Cai”, “La mariposilla verde”, “Yo marinero”, “Vida y gloria de un gitano”… that have led to consider Diego Carrasco as one of the great masters of flamenco.
Diego Carrasco is the “Compass Guru”. An artist who, without losing the traditional canons of flamenco, has found his own sound, a path full of experimentation and innovation…. And he continues to be illusioned and enriched with the sap of new generations, surrounding himself for this purpose with young musicians, his beloved “sober”.
